Redskins Vs. Eagles: Pregame Notes

This is the matchup we've all been waiting for as Donovan McNabb return to the city he starred in for 11 years. Now McNabb will don an opposing team's jersey at Lincoln Financial Field when the Eagles will take on McNabb's Redskins in a matter of minutes.

For the game I like the Eagles to win it 31-20. This is a big game for McNabb, but he'll need help. With no Trent Williams, an anemic ground game, and a defense lacking the lateral speed to contain Michael Vick, I don't like the Redskins chances.

The Redskins are wearing their burgundy jerseys, but no gold pants today as they wear the white pants. McNabb was greeted warmly for pregame warm-ups and he'll need a huge game today to give Washington a shot.

Interestingly, Brandon Banks is active today just days after being called up from the practice squad. Obviously, Mike Shanahan is upset with one of the NFL's worst punt return games and will look for the explosive Banks to provide the spark Phillip Buchanon could not.

Also, Banks could provide a lift at WR where the Redskins have received little production from anyone outside of Santana Moss.

Lorenzo Alexander will start at outside linebacker for Andre Carter. That's a good move since Carter lacks the speed to keep up with Vick. Also, Korey Lichensteiger will again start at left guard for Derrick Dockery for the second straight week.

Here's a complete list of inactives.

Update: McNabb received a standing ovation from Eagles fans as he was introduced.
